I guess this is the time when I kick myself in the nuts for not having a 360. I mean, I've known about this game for a couple months now, but still. Hehe, well, the game's not out yet, and it could be a pretty good while until it does, but I thought this game was gonna be for the PS3 without as much as glancing towards the 360. As of now, it's a 360 exclusive.

(btw, you probably already noticed, but these pics are freakin huge. Click them to make them OMG size.)

There's something about this game that reminds me of Tales of Legendia, which I actually didn't like nearly as much as I expected to. I think it's the big glowing rings around the spire in the distance, or maybe even the similar font choice, but of course those are nothing but minor elements.

After all, the battles seem to be goin' the way of Tales of the Abyss and Symphonia, which I personally prefer.

I don't really care for what these characters look like--not to mention that the guy has a pet dog (which i think was smoking a pipe in the screenshot below -__-;; ). They seem a little plain, kind of like Cless and Mint from Tales of Phantasia, but you can't even tell they are 3D characters until you look at the edges and see the polygons!

Epic win.

And of course the environments look hawt too.

And holy shit, check out the overworld!

Yea, this game is by far the most visually stunning Tales game I've seen. Hehh, then again it's to be expected with the extra current gen horsepower. I don't know much else about this game, but it seems like a completely new Tales experience. Even the battles have a new and strange camera placement, looking more cinematic and dramatic feel than ever before (or at least that's what I feel from the screens I've seen). That said, the battle system was likely changed yet again--possibly for an even greater feel.

------edit------

IGN had this to say about Tales of Vesperia:

"Tales of Vesperia is set in a world reliant on a mysterious ancient technology known as Blastia. The game follows former knight Yuri as he delves into a shadowy plot to use these magical devices to control civilization, or destroy it.

The game makes significant additions to the series' trademark real-time combat system, allowing players to do battle in massive battlefields and learn new special attacks that are tied to individual weapons. New finishing blows allow players to take down enemies in a single hit with correctly timed button combinations, while mission-based battles increase the variety of each encounter as players gain unique items by fulfilling various battle objectives. Players can also use materials collected by successfully executing finishing moves to craft rare and unique equipment for their characters."

Shonen Jump provided a page on Tales of Vesperia! smileycat.gif The characters have names now.. err, at least 2 of them. (translation below pic)

click it to make it freakin' huge. (Pic below is much less than 75%)

Okay, so I was tryin' to decipher of of the moonspeak before I realized that AbyssalChronicles translated it for me:

"The hero's name is Yuri, and now, it is revealed that the heroine's name is Esther/Estelle/Ester (katakana read as ESUTERU)." PLANT42 THINKS IT'S ESTHER/ESTER, BUT WHATEVER BITCH. MOVING ON, [EDIT] OKAY FINE I WAS WRONG LALALALAA!!!!! smiley-mad.gif [./EDIT] "From the screencap, her name is written as Estellize (katakana read as ESUTERIIZE) From what I could make out from the scan...

>> Yuri
- A knight of the kingdom who quit his work because of some conflicts in their goverment, and is now working as a hired mercenary. He dislikes the nobility and the aristocrats, and is cynical when it comes to them, despite that, he's actually good-natured. He meets Estelle when he gets arrested in the castle.

>> Estelle
- A retainer working as a healer in the castle who has pink hair. She meets Yuri when he gets arrested and taken to the castle."

Yea, get into them, guys. smiley-very-happy.gif
Here's a little more info on the game.

Oh and before I go on, it seems I forgot to post the trailer for this game. ^__^;; It's been out for quite some time now, but here it is.

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/29217.html

Yuri Rowell
Age: 21
Height: 180 cm
Voice Actor: Toriumi Kosuke
Apparently, Yuri runs, or is a member of, some kind of guild known as "Brave Vesperia."

Estelle/Esther (Full name Estellieze, no last name yet)
Age: 18
Height: 165 cm
Voice Actor: Nakahara Mai

• The overseas version of the Japanese theme song will be sung by the same artist, who will happen to be Japanese.

• Produced by the Abyss staff.

• The scenario writer's of Abyss and Symphonia won't be working on Vesperia.

• The game will have weapon synthesis.

• The dog is indeed a party character, and can be used in the same way as the others.

Up to 7 or 8 enemies can appear in a single battle.

• As stated before, the battle system will be the EFR-LMBS, or the Evolved Flex-Range Linear Motion Battle System, but no news yet on how it'll be evolved from Abyss' original FR-LMBS exactly. Although the system does include something about staggering the enemy with a single blow once Free Run is used.

If you'll notice, Yuri is the oldest Tales hero to be created ever... It really seems that Namco's leaning to the more mature side of gaming.

So yea, it seems this game is setting a few milestones in the Tales series. Enhanced battle system, 21-year-old protagonist, and I dunno about that weapon synthesis thing, but if it's something new, maybe that too. I know that in Symphonia you have these guys who makes weapons for you free of charge if you bring them certain rare necessary items to create them, but i dunno if that's what they mean by "weapon synthesis."

A new magazine issue shows the party members. There's 8 of them (don't forget to see the dog down below. smiley-tongue.gif ). It also has their names written in English for our convenience cuz japs think roman characters make shit pwn.

Click this if the pic doesn't show up below: http://gallery.abyssalchronicles.com/album...02/up277422.jpg

Also, there are a couple of shit-quality gameplay vids from YouTube, but they show battle footage. The second vid is more interesting than the first one cuz it has more special moves in them.

A new piece of interesting information in battles: YOU CAN NOW CONTROL THE CAMERA!! smiley-very-happy.gif
Very nice indeed.

Well, here are the vids:

First vid
Second vid

Oh, and Prime found these screens. I think I saw something similar to them somewhere, but they weren't as big as they are here. He found them at Kotaku in their coverage of that Microsoft RPG event shit. Anyway, here are the new ones I haven't seen before:

.................
...............................................
............................................................... Okay, FUCK Kotaku. I can't yoink their fuckin' images cuz they're using Flash. Meh, I'll try to find them somewhere else, but for now, here's a link to the main page for the Vesperia images from the event--both new and old.

http://kotaku.com/photogallery/talesvesp/1...ze=thumb800x800

One of the images there is of the location below--a place that appears to be Vesperia's harbor Town, like Symphonia's Palmacosta.

Wait, I found the image!!! Only it's got this kryptonite fog around the edges and it's fuckin' tiny.

Wow, This looks more like a painting than a 3d environment!

Moar w1n:

OH SHIT!! ENGLISH TEXT!!

Here's the opening for Tales of Vesperia. Unfortunately it's recorded off-screen, and at an angle at that, but you can see it. It was recorded at that Microsoft RPG event thing.

Linky: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_xqpb2N-A8

I'm not sure if I like the opening song. >.< It's not really bad, it just feels too.. happy. I dunno. Maybe you'll see what I mean when you hear it. ^___^;

Thanks to G-Tech for the heads up in a PM. He sent me a link to Kotaku's coverage on ToV, saying that they have Over 9000 screens (lol not srsly) for the game. They also showed something else that was very interesting. As we know, the 360 in Japan is bullshit, and this anime game is exclusively on that console. So, what did they do??

BUNDLE!!! smiley-very-happy.gif

$353 USD.

As you can see, it comes with a gay-ass faceplate. I don't have a 360, but if I did, I'd never put a faceplate on it. >.< Anyway, the rest of the Xbox and controllers seem to be the standard gray color with no Vesperia-specific etchings, logos or artwork.

So far, this bundle is exclusive to Jap-Land, and it's likely to stay that way too, but I'd love to see that bundle in the States. Then again, (according to IGN) Vesperia is due out over here in this August 19th, and I don't plan on getting a 360 THAT soon. It would save me money if I got it in a bundle, since I'm definitely getting Vesperia if I get a 360, but special bundles don't stay around for very long after the game's release.

Oh, and if any of you have a Japanese Silver Xbox Live account (lol good luck), YOU CAN NOW PLAY A DEMO OF VESPERIA---WITH ENGLISH TEXT TOO!!! So fuckin' gay though--why have English text if that offer is only available for Japan and India? Oh well.

Well, here are the screens I find the most interesting (and that I don't think I've posted here yet):

(oh, and by the way, I had to Photobucket these images cuz the Kotaku has a stick up its ass and doesn't let you take their screenshots and post them elsewhere.)

Okay, about that demo I mentioned,

THERE ARE GAMEPLAY VIDEOS!!!!!........... IN ENGLISH!!!!!

I think it's broken into 2 parts. The first part can be found at this site called GamerSyde (sounds gangsta). You can stream of download it. (1280x720 download yay!)

http://www.gamersyde.com/news_6672_en.html

(EDIT)
I found it on YouTube now too:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjxDEQcdhn4&NR=1
(/EDIT)

And the second part is on YouTube with pretty good quality (only a little blurry). If you care to download it, the YouTube video info has a link to FilesFront where you can download the video (in higher resolution, I assume).

http://youtube.com/watch?v=mndAiKJq4k0&fmt=18

NOTE: I just finished downloading the FilesFront video (720p) from the link at YouTube, and at least on MY computer, it freezes. The resolution is bigger than my monitor's but I can tell it to "fit to screen." Anyway, when I push the play button, it freezes for a long time, plays a little bit (and choppy), and then freezes again. I think my computer can't take it. smiley-indifferent.gif wtf.

After seeing this vid.................. OMFG I NEED A 360 NAO!!!

So yea, screenshots of the Hi-Ougis in Tales of Vesperia have finally been released!! smiley-very-happy.gif
They've only showed screens for the 2 main characters, Yuri and Estelle, but it's good enough for now.

Here are the 2 screens for Yuri

And the 3 I found for Estelle

Also, now they're giving more attention to those big-ass monsters. This time, they're going to be significantly tough to beat--like a boss battle, only they would be a mere monster unrelated to the story at hand. I guess you can compare monsters like these to the Sword Dancer (giant skeleton monster you can optionally fight 3 different times), only he did have a bit to do with the story--that is, they had skits talking about him after defeating him battles.

New info:
There's something called a "Secret Mission" that is available in each boss battle. Basically, it's a special condition (unknown to player) that can be met throughout the battle, and if you achieve it.... I dunno what else good happens--I'm sure there has to be something--but at least this happens:

When you reach the requirements during the battle, you'll see a "Great!" message.

And after the battle, you'll see a message telling you that you've completed the secret mission.
