Namco Bandai had a press conference yesterday, at which they announced yet another Tales game is in development, and it will be coming out on Wii next year. Again? Didn't Dawn of the New World just come out in Japan? Makoto Yoshizumi has announced that unlike the previous Wii title, the upcoming game will be a "mothership" title, and will be more similar Destiny and Fantasia in terms of its importance in the series. More details will be posted by Plant as they come. XD

But yea, I'm glad to see the next major Tales title will be for the Wii, but I am quite disappointed at how they (hopefully IGN and not Namco) said that the next game will be a big title like Tales of Destiny, and unlike Dawn of the New World. Hopefully what they were trying to say is that it will be a brand new Tales game and not a ["spinoff"] sequel as Dawn of the New World is to Symphonia.

There's Tales of Symphonia for the Gamecube and PS 2. That was my first Tales game.

Lol, that' cuz I'm a Tales whore and I make a thread for all the upcoming Tales games [that interest me] and update them as soon as I find something new and exciting [to me] about it. ^______^;;

I think my first game was a "deJapped" emulator version of Tales of Phantasia SNES game, but I'm not sure cuz I played it very close to the time when I got Tales of Symphonia. Either way, I never finished Tales of Phantasia.

As Ngamer suggested, I think that Tales of Symphonia is definitely a great place to start. After all, Tales of Symphonia is Plant's favorite video game.

But if you can't find it, my next suggestion would be Tales of the Abyss. It's a pretty good game, but the only thing that kinda pisses me off is when they do shit like tell you to go to "Belkend" (a city) in "IForgotTheNameOfTheContinent," and you've NEVER heard of a fuckin' "Belkend" and it's not labeled on the map, nor did you know that the continent's name ("Rugnica" for example) refers to the continent itself since continents never get labeled on the map. -__-;; But aside from that crap, just keep GameFaqs handy for the few times when they throw that horseshit at you and you're in for a really nice game. It took me a second play-through to fully understand the story, but that's partially cuz I'm slow at stories. ^___^;

Anyway, do NOT play Tales of Legendia as your first Tales game! lol, if you don't want to, you can ignore it altogether. lol. It's not a bad game, but the story is so boring compared to both Symphonia and The Abyss.

Also, if you wanna wait a month, Tales of Vesperia definitely looks promising!

That's exactly what they were trying to say. They meant that it would be a new story arc. I wonder what it could be...

We are getting DotNW n the next few weeks, so Japan has had it for a little while now. But the new Tales game does look sweet. I especially like the graphics!! I can't wait!!!!

You know, that's phucked up too because he looks one HELL of a lot like the character I was planning on creating for my Water Temple level for next quarter. People are going to think I ripped him off from this guy now. My character, Ace, was to wear mostly formal attire colored mostly in a very pure white with hints of pitch black scattered across his suit. He would have He would have a dress shit, dress pants, and a nice coat that does that floaty-shit at the bottom that Seto Kaiba's (from yugioh) does.

I didn't realize how similar that character was to my intended "Ace" character until now, but the design choices being so close to what I wanted for my own character probably explain why I loved the look so much at first glance.

Around 59 minutes into the video, this screenshot was shown (not in the video), along with an arrangement of one of Tales of Destiny 2's songs. This led to some rumors that this would be Tales of Destiny 3 or something, but according to Rpgmonkey from the Tales Forums, it isn't. Rumors say that this game is under development by Team Destiny and the people behind Dawn of the New World. As you can see, it's another anime-style game, and this project is said to be released or made public by next Fall/Winter.

The song kicks in a little after 59:30, but whatev. I don't know what this other song is from, but another song plays at about 1:01:00, and Plant likie. I'm pretty sure there's a whole trailer playing that third parties asked to black out so the public couldn't see them yet, but since it sounds like an entire trailer, I'm just about 100% sure the second song has nothing to do with this game. I wonder if it's another Tales of Destiny series theme. Either way, it sounds bad fuckin' ass. If that were the Tales of Wii theme, I'd be very pleased. lol. but again, chances are nil. But Iwata WAS just speaking about "Bandai-Namco" and "Tales Series" just moments before.

I asked on YouTube if the song in this vid is original to this game or if it's new, and someone responded telling me that it's from Tales of Destiny 2. I had heard of a trailer for this game having ToD2 music a long time ago, but I guess this must by the one.

The protagonist's face is always turned from the camera in that trailer, but this is the closest we get to seeing his face:
