Metroid: Aleph "Mayday, mayday. This is the Space Pirate frigate Clarion, does anyone read? Mayday, mayday." Space Pirate frigate Clarion-113 was on sentry patrol duty on the edge of the charted regions of the galactic universe. They were just about to finish the final rounds of their duty when they were caught in an erratic asteroid belt. Although most of the crew and frigate survived, the sustained heavy damage left them barely functional. The crew of Clarion-113 set a hyperspace jump back to the pirate homeworld, and luckily they were able to salvage just enough energy to support the jump. However... what the crew did not realize was that the navigation system had failed, leaving them subject to a random set of coordinates. Clarion-113 exited hyperspace in an completely unfamiliar, desolate region of the unknown universe. Determined not to give up, the crew broadcasted a distress call back to wherever the known universe was. "Mayday, mayday. This is the Space Pirate frigate Clarion, does anyone read...we are stranded with little resources. Requesting immmediate assistance. Mayday, mayday." Unfortunately, after attempting to determine the location of Clarion-113, the crew discovered that it would be approximately 12,394 years until the broadcast came within range of any possible vessel. Deeming the situation hopeless, most of the crew began to commit suicide. Pirate turned against pirate, killing one another for food and resources, anything to maintain sustenance. They wandered the stars for what seemed like eternity. At the last moment, one beacon of hope burned like a weak lamp. Sensors showed a large planet capable of sustaining pirate life. The crew named it "Aleph", which is the pirate word for "Salvation". They began immediate preparations and descended to the surface. What they didn't remember was that they had depleted all of Clarion's fuel resources to make the jump, but they realized this too late. Atmospheric turbulence and tension began to tear the frigate to pieces. After what seemed like 5 minutes of complete hell, Clarion-113 crashlanded on Aleph's surface. Will the remaining crew survive? You're in the story, so you say whether or not they do. Feel free to join at any time.

It would be interesting to see a mostly good space pirate for once. Maybe he was the one trying to keep the sanity and moral up the most, and he also would be the protagonist.
The word Aleph, although it might be spelled Alleph, is the name of the first letter in the Hebrew alphabet. It's an 'A' but it's silent. It's only percievable sound comes from the vowel that accompanies it. It's kind of like the duct tape of the alphabet, (Ein 'AE' is also silent.) It also comes with the numeric value of #1.
Welcome to the sanctuary btw!

Weapons Specialist Ceres opened his eyes.
"Ugh... where am I?"
Truth be, he knew exactly where he was. He just wasn't ready to accept what had just happened. The crash had been worse than expected, and he was surprised that he was still alive. Laying on his back, he watched the celiing swirl around in a dizzy blender-like visual. He turned on his side and vomited blood. "Damn," Ceres cursed. He turned over on his stomach and slowly got on his feet. Standing up, he saw on his retinal HUD the diagnostic run of his armor and weapons systems.
/rundiagnostic ... initializing... Internal Memory fully functional. Bladed Energy Scythe fully functional. Kinetic Accelerator Cannon has suffered minor damage. Standard Issue Titanium Alloy Armor System fully functional. E-01 Energy Shields fatally damaged, no longer operative. ...diagnostic check completed.
Ceres cursed loudly. The E-01 Energy Shields were one of his main defenses; he was not happy that he would have to go without them. Their sustenance not only proved effective in combat, they could be used for many other hazardous situations. "Perhaps I can repair them later," he thought out loud.
/rundiagnostic.kacsystem ... initializing... Targeting system has failed. KAC will function, but not effectively. Recommend immediate repairs. ...diagnostic check completetd.
/rundiagnostic.shieldingsystem ... initializing... Shielding has suffered fatal damages. Unable to diagnose condition. 2% probability for repair. Recommend complete replacement of all modules. ...diagnostic check completed.
"At least I can use my scythe," he thought.

Heh, in the Arabic alphabet ʾalif ( ا) is the second letter, preceded by ʿayn ( ع).

"I should probably put out an acknowledgement beacon," Ceres mumbled. "That way others will know that I'm here."
/runacbeacon ... initializing... [Med Unit A-291] Acknowledgement Beacon set.
Ceres thought to himself while trying to find his bearing. "I hope Kizia is still alive."
