The Great Morgil's Blog

I hope i'm doing this right. I assume i'm just supposed to talk about my day, right? Well, here goes:
Yesterday was quite an interesting day. I had everything all planned out, but unfortunately, things didn't entirely go as planned. First of all, i got up pretty early (hey, 9:30 is early for me!). After getting ready, i had a difficult time getting the 'rent's mutt into the the bedroom, which is where he's always left when no one's home. This was only an omen for what was to come that day.
So i drive for a half hour up to Fond du Lac to the only bookstore that has a decent manga selection. Turns out there was a shipping error and they had only just gotten the supply of new manga just as i had walked into the store. Now, there was a lot of books, and it would take time to sort them out. I waited a while, reading some magazines in the store, and walking around to some of the other stores in the mall. Now, apparently schools must've been closed yesterday due to the -50 temperatures, because i saw millions of very annoying 12-14 year old kids scattered around the entire mall. Well, after waiting for about 2 hours, they still had barely scratched the surface of organizing that shipment, and the lady who was doing it had to take a break cuz the books were friggin cold from just getting off of the truck. Now, aparently this one lady who was trying to find my book in this shipment was this one lady who knows me well cuz of how i always show up every month. I didn't want her to suffer the extreme cold just for one stinking book for me, so i told them that in spite of the traveling distance, i'd come back another day.
Now i drove all the way back home, and first stopped into my local Gamestop. I picked up my copy of Final Fantasy VI, but i was baffled at how they didn't have a guide for it. They checked there computer and there was nothing listed, neither an NP one nor a third-party one. Now, the game had been paid off in full back when i pre-ordered it, and i had recently traded in $15 worth of stuff which i had intended to use to buy the guide. Now i had to find something else to use that credit on. I eventually decided to get an FFX guide, a game which i have but hadn't even played yet.
Now comes the fun part. I stopped by both ShopKo and Wal*Mart to put in applications for employment, since i lost my job at Gamestop a month ago. Normally, applications aren't so bad. I just grab a sheet, take it home, fill it out, and bring it back in. But no, that's not how they're doing it now-a-days. I had to stand there like a moron in the middle of the store, at both places, filling out some online application at these dumb little kiosks. And it took for-freaken-ever to do them cuz they were so fucking long and had all these stupid questions which i'd never seen before on paper applications. ugh
Well, by now it was about 4:30, and i had a class at 5:30. Rather then go home, i just got to school early and hung out in the cafeteria, stretched out on the couch and watching tv. After an hour, i went to my class. Then i stopped at the gas station and then went home. I stumbled in the door like a giant Popsicle, and lucky for me, dinner was just about ready. A hot meal was just what i needed to warm up. After dinner, i quickle checked CS to see what's new, then immediately plopped down on the living room couch and started playing FFVI until about 2 AM, when i went to bed. If ya wanna know what i thought of the game, just check my latest post in the FF thread on the RPG board. For now, let's just say that it was a great way to end a helluva crummy day.
There, that's my very fist blog entry. I hope i did it right.

I don't understand why we are supposed to hurl heavy metal frisbee-type objects at Morgil's blog, but who am I to argue with wanton destruction?

cuz now i know what hell is like
Ah man did today suck. I had to work today and was it ever busy as hell. For those who don't already know, i work at a restaurant called Noodles & Co. on the weekends washing dishes. Now, sometimes i have to go back and forth between washing dishes and busing the dining room, while other times they might have someone working who exclusively buses. Normally, Saturdays during the lunch shift, this guy named Matt is the scheduled bus boy, but today he had asked off, so i had to go without him. Next time i see him i'm gonna strangle him till his eyes pop out. We were so fucking busy, i just had such a hard time keeping up with providing customers with clean tables at which to sit down and meeting demands from the kitchen for fresh clean bowls and plates. Luckily, sometimes my boss, Dennis, would help bus a few tables if he had a chance, but i still had to do much of it myself. Finally it did calm down, and from then on i just had to concentrate on getting caught up in back, which wasn't easy cuz the kitchen folk kept bringing back more pans and shit. I was only scheduled to 2:30, but i didn't get out till about 4:30, and that's only cuz the evening guy came in an hour early. The night manager, Trista, came in around that time, too, and both me and Dennis were relieved that we could both take off now. Though i heard him say to Trista that the reason we were so swamped was cuz there was some bowling tournament today, and that it was just the boy's tournament that we faced. The girl's tournament would be around 6-ish. I feel bad for the night crew, cuz now they're gonna have to face the same hell that we, the daytime crew, just went through. Ah, well. At least now i'm home and i can stretch out on the couch and relax for the rest of the night.

So i stopped by my college just now to drop off some homework for a self-paced course that i'm taking, and just as i'm leaving, i get rear-ended by some blind bitch. It was on the first side street after pulling out of the school's parking lot. I was waiting in line at the stop sign, with one car in front of me, when all of a sudden my car jumps hard, pratically giving me a friggin heart attack. I called a cop, who took care of things. My car didn't seem to have anything wrong, 'cept for a few scratches on the bumper, but she seemed to have quite a few dents and a broken headlight. she claimed the sun was in her eyes, but since she hit me, she's still at fault. the officer said that since there was so minimal damage, he didn't have to write up a report if neither of us thought it was necessary. We both didn't think so at first, but when i called my parents on my cell phone, they said to get a report made just in case. Good thing i did, cuz when i got home, my dad took a look and just now told me that he saw a little more damage, and just to be safe, i should have a professional check it out. My dad even suggested that if any further damages found aren't that serious, i could just leave it be and keep the money from her insurance. I think that's a little greedy, but then again... Well, it's all done for now. I just gotta wait for the police report to arrive in the mail and then i'll settle things from there.

Comic Book Spoiler alert
So i just got the new issue of the Sonic Comic today, issue #172. Boy was it good. It seems they were going for a valentines day theme with both stories having a love theme to them.
The first story had a rather hard themed story as Fiona revealed that she was a traitor and has been recently sneaking around and seeing Scourge, Sonic's evil antithesis, behind his back. It was a pretty emotional battle, involving Sonic, Tails, and Amy vs. Scourge and Fiona. Unfortunately, Scourge and Fiona both escaped in the end, and a recent list of gathering villains has grown by yet one more now. Then the story ended with 'Twan showing up, and after being told what just happened, he stormed off muttering about how he's about to do something drastic that he should've done long ago.
The back-up story was a simple little piece about Amy training under Julie-su. JS asks Amy why she wants training so badly, and Amy simple states that she wants to become the best to impress sonic. JS gives her a nice little speech about love, but naturally, Amy doesn't listen.
I liked both stories a lot, especially the main one. The set up is really leaving me wonder what big thing is in store for the next issue. Ever since Ken left and Ian took over as main story writer, I think Ian's been doing a pretty good job. He seems to be doing a lot of callbacks to really old issues. Why, this issue alone had footnotes referencing events from issues 11 and 28. It makes me feel proud to be one of the few who's actually been reading since issue #1. I really like how things are going.
I really love this series. I'm a big fan, so don't be surprised if i ramble on like this again when i get future issues. In the mean time, i'm very anxious for the SatAM dvd box set that's coming on Mar. 17, a little over a month away.
