Things are getting ugly between Kojima Productions at Konami leading to reports Hideo Kojima himself may leave Konami soon.

Kojima Productions currently has restricted access to Konami's communications and are restricted to limited promotions of their games (including MGS 5: The Phantom Pain).

Konami just keeps fucking up it seems. They killed Castlevania with that Lords of Shadow crap, bought Hudson and have done nothing with them, and now they're screwing with the crown jewel of the company's videogame division before its two major projects have been completed (the other being Silent Hills)?

I still expect that both Phantom Pain and Silent Hills to be completed and launch as planned. Are you suggesting that they are gonna get canned, or are you saying that Konami has fucked up their own IPs?

I'm just saying that it's stupid to fuck with your biggest studio when they're still developing their biggest games, regardless of how likely it is that they'll suffer. MGSV will probably be completely fine, but that doesn't make the move any less stupid. As for Silent Hills... Considering how early that project is the development will definitely be affected in some way or another. It doesn't even have a release year yet and Kojima's a huge part of that game. No way will it release exactly as it would have, assuming it even releases. Honestly though, Konami probably doesn't even care if either project suffers. They're too busy making money on their non-gaming divisions (which is another reason why the Hudson buyout was dumb). They should just spin-off their gaming division and be done with it. I'm sure Sony or someone would buy in a heartbeat.

Just to play devil's advocate, we are not entirely sure that Kojima isn't to blame here.

edit> either way, wtf konami? what's going on

Well, Konami is also going through a major restructuring, which includes removing Kojima as an executive. Considering the timing, I think this is more of a Konami thing than a Kojima thing.

Also, since GoNintendo/OP doesn't mention it, Kojima's name is being scrubbed from numerous things. Kojima Productions LA is now Konami Los Angeles, Kojima's name has been removed from all MGSV material including the website, and references have similarly been removed from the websites for the MGS Legacy Collection and Ground Zeroes.

Ugh.  Unless it was requested by Kojima himself, unpersoning Kojima's contributions like that like he never worked for Konami in the first place...  *facepalm*

And now Konami has announced to Japanese fans that the Metal Gear series will continue on. Meanwhile they are already hiring new developers for a new Metal Gear sub-series, which apparently won't be developed by KojiPro, although I can't seem to find out for sure if that's the case.

Edit: Looks like Kojima Productions is getting a rebranding/restructuring at best, and may even be completely shutdown after this.
