Ok, I'll make it, since nobody else has. Nintendo announced their latest Metroid game, much to the chagrin of the internet in general who decried it as Not A Metroid Game.
After watching some gameplay on the Treehouse after the E3 digital event, I think it looks like it has some promise, but they need to polish it up. I also wonder how it'll work when you don't have 3 other people to play with.
Also interesting, something that Ngamer01 also noticed and commented on in the shoutbox, is that during the Treehouse sample play they had the 4 players going to an ice world to capture an "Ice Beast", which looked awfully familiar (also shown in the above trailer). Familiar enough that I remembered where I saw it - Unseen 64:

That ice ape looked a lot like what was shown in the gameplay they did, although much smaller and sans a couple of arms. One can only hope that they'll tie this stuff in more clearly to the Metroid universe if they want to make it believable that it occurs there (and get rid of those Playskool battle outfits the GF soldiers are wearing).
