Announced last night, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for Nintendo Switch looks to carry on from the original Xenoblade Chronicles for Wii.  We don't know if it's a direct sequel or a sequel set in the future from the first game or if this is a prequel to the first game, but we do know it's coming in 2017 for Japan.

Just look at that stupid-ass face. This art style is complete garbage and an insult to the Xenoblade name. Damn this game, and damn Monolithsoft for making this instead anything else. I'm down for a Xenoblade Chronicles 2, but not if it's gonna be something like this. Nobody gives a shit about Baten Kaitos anymore, but I wish they'd team up with Tri-Ace and make a 3rd one of those instead.

To be honest, yeah this doesn't fit XC style.  But I imaging it's because Bandai Namco has rights to Xenogears and since Monolith Soft is Nintendo's 2nd party, they can't call it Xenogears without getting a license from Bandai Namco first...

I'm still waiting to hear if any of the characters are really feeling it.

Tetsuya Takahashi has spoken out in regards to Xenoblade Chronicles 2:  http://gonintendo.co...xenoblade-chron

The following post comes from Monolith Soft's Tetsuya Takahashi..

"A young adult story with a taste of boy-meets-girl. Lately it feels like all I’ve been doing are games full of devastation, like where your hometown burns down at the start, or the spaceship you’re riding crashes(oh wait, that is all I ever do). Sometimes I just wanna try something different!

I want to make something that people can look back on fondly one day as something that really shaped their lives. Something like what I loved as a boy, like Oliver!(by Carol Reed) and Galaxy Express 999(by Rintaro).

-- That’s why I started working on this game.

I’ll leave the stories about the solemn old men and hot stylish guys to someone else(even though there’s way more demand for that stuff), and go ahead with this.

That’s what was on my mind around the end of 2014 through early 2015.

Yeah, we started while Xenoblade X was still in development.

We’re building a whole new ‘Xenoblade’ title using the foundation laid by X. That’s the core of the project.

Some people think exploration is what games should be all about, while some are like “no no, story is what’s best.” Well we’ve got something perfect for both of those kinds of people: Xenoblade 2.

And that’s what I wanted to tell you with my first announcement. Sound cool?

There are still a ton of surprises left, of course.

I’ll be revealing little bits of information and riling everyone up all the way until release.

And that was my June of 2017.

(Wait, will we even meet the release deadline?!)

Nintendo of Europe is heading up localization of Xenoblade 2:  http://gonintendo.co...o-of-europe-dev

The most interesting is the note that localization is now happening at the same time Monolith is developing the Japanese version.  So sorry if you were looking for to import the Japanese version to get around any possible bad localizations.

Here are beginning details of the game world and characters:  http://gonintendo.co...d-in-game-terms

Was there really any problems people had with the first game's localization? I mean aside from all the British accents?

The first game's localization was fine.  It was actually Xenoblade X where people got upset at some costumes and an appearance option got censored in the west.  That was on top of the uproar over Fire Emblem Fates and Tokyo Mirage Sessions FE's bad localizations.

Worst part right here. Their voices sound like total jokes, leading them to become actual jokes. I don't think Reyn was ever intended to be as "funny" as he was. Half the time is spent laughing (or facepalming) at the voice recording.

So yeah, bad news indeed.
