For those that don't know Rocket League, you basically drive rocket-powered vehicles to try to knock a giant soccer ball into the opposing goal to earn points.  But it's not as easy as it sounds.  Opposing drivers will try to stop you in order to try scoring on your goal.  The game was already released on Xbox One, PC, and PS4, but a Nintendo Switch version is coming later this year!  The game also supports some types of cross-play, but there are catches.

Info coming from the Nintendo Switch version shown at e3 2017 --

Fact sheet:  http://gonintendo.co...ague-fact-sheet

Screenshots (down for me): http://gonintendo.co...-league-screens

Rocket League on Switch will be 20 bucks (same as other platforms): http://gonintendo.co...other-platforms

Nintendo Switch version will have cross-play with XBox One and PC players, but no PS4 crossplay:

Sony refuses to allow PS4 crossplay with non-Sony platforms because THINK OF THE CHILDREN:

>> Ironic as it sounds like something Nintendo would have bellowed in the past.  <.<

Rocket League is pretty cool, one of my roommates plays it all the time but it's a lot more difficult than it looks and he's a beast at it, so I don't really bother much. I was going to get it on Xbox One eventually but now that it's coming to Switch that's definitely where I'm going to get it.

Also, Mario hats on cars? Yes please.

Yeah, my friend Tommy played this shit. It was free on PSN last year but I don't get it cuz "fuck this indie shit." Then he told me how it was really awesome and I would get it. I never got it.

I guess I'm more interested in it now than ever before, but "more" is a relative term; I'm still not very interested in it. Part of the reason is because of what you already said: it's harder than it looks. There is already a dedicated fanbase, and they're probably already beast at this shit. Coming in as a noob would be too discouraging for a multiplayer game that I'm not too crazy over playing in the first place.

It'd be like those times when I tried playing Team Fortress 2. Everyone else played totally different from me. They clearly understood the ins and outs of everything, and their movements made me feel like I was a stranger in a place where everyone spoke an alien language. Sure, I could keep playing until I leaned all that shit myself, but my lack of initial interest and motivation would make it hard for me to invest the time and effort.

Psyonix issues more statements in regards to Sony not allowing cross-platform play:

Apparently before Nintendo officially revealed Switch last year, Nintendo approached Psyonix about a port:

If you're wondering if Psyonix will ever move away from Rocket League (even if it's to make a damn sequel), they say nope.  They will continue supporting it like Valve did Team Fortress 2 (since Valve hates the number 3):  http://gonintendo.co...ant-to-keep-upd

Rick and Morty DLC is coming to Rocket League and that includes the coming Switch version.  July 5th is the launch date for non-Nintendo platforms.  Nintendo Switch owners will have to actually wait for the Switch port launch before they can have the Rick and Morty DLC.

Here is another interview regarding Rocket League's coming Switch port:  http://gonintendo.co...ng-players-safe

Coming from a GamesIndustry interview with Psyonix VP of publishing Jeremy Dunham...

"Nintendo has been very open with giving us whatever resources that we need, answering any questions that we have, allowing us to do cross-network play, which is a big deal and very important to us and they had no problem with that at all. That was the very first question I asked them. I said: 'If we are going to commit to doing this, would you guys allow us to do cross-platform?' And they told me that if it is important to us, then we will do cross-platform. There wasn't even any hesitation.

In the very beginning, when we first released Rocket League, a lot of people were asking us about mobile versions. They wanted it on Vita or on mobile. But the need to play multiplayer over the internet on those platforms was a concerning problem for us. But now that we have two years of experience with the system, and we all own Switches ourselves and we know what it is about, we are not too worried about the online experience. We have enough tools and safeguards in place to make sure that if you are playing Rocket League on-the-go multiplayer, via the internet, then we will be able to handle that situation just fine and keep all players happy. That's what is cool about the console and one of the reasons we wanted to do it. Although it may not have the power of an Xbox One or a PS4, it does have that very unique aspect to it."

Here's a new trailer showcasing some new Nintendo-themed battle cars:

News link:  http://gonintendo.co...gi-nsr-and-samu

As the holiday season draws closer, so too does Rocket League on Nintendo Switch!

As revealed in our Nintendo Direct E3 2017 trailer, Rocket League will indeed have exclusive customization items and Battle-Cars for that version of the game, and today we are excited to announce that the ‘Mario NSR,’ ‘Luigi NSR,’ and ‘Samus’ Gunship’ vehicles will be FREE unlockable Battle-Cars at launch!

For the curious, team color decides which version of the new Battle-Cars appear on the pitch. Players on the Orange team can use the ‘Mario NSR’ and ‘Samus’ Gunship,’ while Blue team members automatically equip the ‘Luigi NSR’ and a classic Samus color variation of her Varia Suit. Though both vehicles are FREE on Nintendo Switch, players will still need to unlock them in-game by completing certain requirements. More details on those later this year!

Along with the new Battle-Cars, Rocket League on Switch will also have several exclusive customization items. The ‘Mario’ and ‘Luigi’ Toppers (hats) can be used on any non-licensed customizable Battle-Car, while the ‘Super Star’ Rocket Boost can be used with the ‘Mario NSR’ and ‘Luigi NSR’ cars. Likewise, the ‘Wave Beam’ Rocket Boost is exclusive to ‘Samus’ Gunship.’

Look for more information on our Nintendo Switch release as we get closer to launch!
