Releasing yesterday that brought the Nintendo Switch eShop to its knees, Splatoon 2 is the sequel to the cult classic Wii U game.  Gone are the touch controls of the Wii U original (plus gyroscope) replaced with more traditional controls (and gyroscope is back again) for the sequel.  This sequel is set two years after the first game in that the Octarians are trying to invade Inkling-kind again and due to the final Splatfest of the original game, one of the Squid Sisters have gone missing and it's up to you to go find her.  One thing hasn't changed:  Inklings still love their Turf Wars and Splatfests even as things changed in the two years.  New acts and groups appeared and disappeared just a quick.

But today the latest group to rock the Inkling-world is called "Off the Hook" with Inkling Pearl and her partner, Octarian Marina.  This group became notable because before this group estabilished, it was unheard of for Octarians and Inklings to get along let alone have fun together.  Off the Hook perform the same tasks as the original Squid Sisters did in Splatoon 1 on Wii U.

In multiplayer comes old maps with new twists and new maps.  Weapons haven't changed much, but the Specials and perk have been overhauled completely from Splatoon 1.  Some old modes have come back with new twists along with new modes.  One thing hasn't change is that Splat Zone Turf Wars still have you inking as much turf as you can for your team.

Anyways before the release of the full game, I did record the first Splatfest that was held last Saturday.  I have been posting videos here:  https://www.youtube....L6RYUFW_i7S_Q8v

The finale will go up tomorrow on my channel.  I team up with other CSers for the finale.

In other news, Arby's give their support for Splatoon 2:

Also the second Splatfest was announced for the first weekend in August.  It's Mayonnaise vs. Ketchup!

If I had the full game, I'd be Team Mayo all the way.

The Inkbrush roller weapon will be coming tonight as DLC!

Anyways discuss Splatoon 2 here, but please be mindful for single player spoilers!

A reminder:  If you got the Switch Online App for mobile, you can use SplatNet 2 and be able to snag exclusive gear that cannot be obtained any other way.

A note about "exclusive" - it's the same gear as available in the store, but your main attribute might be different. I have a Chirpy Chirps shirt that I bought in the store, and its main is Cold Blooded. But right now there's one on the app, and its main is Ink Saver Main. But it doesn't appear that there's any certain gear that you can only get in any form on the app.

Also, the Inkbrush is live now.

Sorry for the double post, but after my first major day of playing, a couple of things to share.

Was having a rough time with the Splat Charger, maybe my settings are off, maybe my eyes are tired, maybe I just suck tonight. So I picked up the Splattershot and tried again after a 45 minute break. It felt better.

They don't show it anymore, but no deaths on that one. And each Splashdown took out at least one enemy squid kid. I wish I had been recording.

Also, Salmon Run is shella fun! Got up to the "daily big bonus" level, and pulled in 32,000 coins for it, in addition to all the stuff I got getting up there. Also started getting on some really good teams here at the end. Was getting over 40 golden eggs almost every time (I'm at Go-Getter level by now).

Salmon Run is such an awesome addition, for when you're tired of playing against people, but still wanna get that Splatoon fix (especially after the single-player stuff is done).

I still have yet to try Salmon Run. I keep getting distracted by the Story mode. I just entered the third main area and beat one stage in it.

Here's something of interest:  TOSE (devs that co-own the Starfy series with Nintendo, but also do ports of games) assisted in the development of Splatoon 2.  It is unknown to what extent they helped though.  I really haven't heard anything from TOSE outside their final Starfy game flopping worldwide on Nintendo DS (which has them now only working on ports and assisting other devs/publishers in developing games).

EDIT - https://gonintendo.c...n-of-splatnet-2

Hatena (devs behind the web portion of Flipnote Studio on DSi) helped with the development of the SplatNet 2 service.

Okay, I've got a whole lot of inking news to catch up on (and a lil' self-promotion =P ).

This is unofficial, but it looks like Splatoon 2 did 500,000 in its first week in Japan (no word if this includes digital sales or not):

https://gonintendo.c...00k-for-the-fir

In the UK, Splatoon 2 had a better launch week than Splatoon 1.  How much better?  59% better!:

https://gonintendo.c...ch-week-sales-b

Have a Splatoon 2 tribute in dominoes!:

You may have seen "realistic" drawings in the Square in Splatoon 2.  If you wonder how that is done:

>> Just one Pokken controller (it is compatible with Switch) and some special software and viola!  No idea if Nintendo will consider this as hacks and patch it though.

This is on the spoiler side, but there is an Easter egg in Bomb Rush.  If you want to find it out...

IGN updated their Splatoon 2 review:  https://www.youtube....h?v=5zQklkZvtfI

Have a rare animation! -> https://gonintendo.c...n-2-s-fist-pump

>> If you have a curling bomb tossed, you cannot be moving.  You must be idle while your curling bomb is out!

Lastly my self-promotion:  https://www.youtube....L6RYUFW_i7S_Q8v

All my videos from the World Splatfest Premiere are up for viewing including the CS team-up in the last video!

Point of clarification, it doesn't appear that you need to own a Pokken controller, the software this person made emulates a Pokken controller (since it's USB-based). You actually plug your computer via USB into the Switch, and the Switch thinks your computer is the controller. Not sure if Nintendo could even patch it out, since as far as the Switch knows, what it's talking to is a controller, not a computer.

I might have to get this, build the code, and run it, it sounds kinda cool. And I certainly can't draw for real, so I'm just the kind of person it's meant for! :P

Ok, I have to issue a warning.  A new exploit was found online to enable infinite tickets.  So expect Nintendo to emergency patch this ASAP.

Playing with Sam tonight, and ran into Zen too! I wonder if he noticed we were playing with him. :D

Now I gotta go farm some tickets before Nintendo patches that bug. ;)
