Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team (or just simply known by the fan nickname, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon 1) is the game that started up the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon spin-off. It came in two versions, Red Rescue Team for Game Boy Advance and Blue Rescue Team for Nintendo DS. This is the game that started many of the elements found or even played with in later installments in the PMD series. Rescue Team isn't as popular as the Explorers games (namely Sky), but it still has fans as both Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team are available on Wii U Virtual Console.
The PMD series starts off: You play as a human turned Pokémon with no memory of what happened to you or who you used to be outside your name. You then meet your Pokémon partner and then set off on adventures trying to figure out what happened to you, figure out who you used to be, and as that mission goes on, the world comes under threat of a growing evil that you must stop. If that sounds familiar, the premise is the same, but some elements are executed differently for each PMD game.
Also the following holds true here too (since Rescue Team started it):
The Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games are mainly known for their stories instead of gameplay. The gameplay namely takes the form of three things:
1) You talk to Pokémon in the local town for information, to arm yourself, and then...
2) You're tasked to explore Mystery Dungeons and carry out missions. These dungeons will change their layouts every time even if you reenter the same Mystery Dungeon.
3) Some Mystery Dungeons have bosses/events you must clear to advance the story.
Now I just started Red Rescue Team following beating Explorers of Sky. I don't know how much I can post here, but if you were waiting for some pictures, all I can say is some pictures will contain spoilers. All pics will be linked to (pics captured from Elgato Capture HD) and since this post is getting big, I have to throw everything in a spoiler block even if some pics aren't spoilers.
